⚜️ UNDERSTORY: I was looking for ideas for my next woodburn when my hubby chimed in and said he wanted me to do a dragon. I initially imagined the traditional four-legged, winged, fire-breathing kind. He showed me images he liked, and I spent the next six months, off and on, trying to come up with “his” dragon. But I was getting nowhere. Eventually, I admitted to myself that a dragon just wasn’t in the design cards for me—at least for the foreseeable future.
And here’s where it got kinda woo-woo: as soon as I gave up trying to create a dragon from my imagination, I started “seeing” one in my head! It was actually pretty clear, even if it wasn’t exactly easy for me to draw. But as soon as I started working on it, I KNEW this was the dragon. At one point, I tried to put legs on him because I wanted to tie him in with a “real” legendary dragon. But IT wouldn’t let me. And wings? Again, a flat-out nope. THIS was the being that wanted to be brought forth in an illustration, and I positively LOVE HIM/HER!
It took me over a year to birth this beautiful creature. Whatever its real name is, I’ve not been privy to that yet. But I believe it may be my favorite burn so far.
And isn’t it interesting that a water being wanted to be brought out in FIRE? Kinda cool.
