My art career started soon after college, though there were many pauses along the way.  Early projects ranged from greeting card illustration to sculpture.  Although sculpture still makes an appearance every now and again for fun, it's the act of "playing with fire" that has truly captivated my imagination.  I am constantly dreaming up ways to push the envelope with what one can achieve with the tiny tip of a pyrography pen and the negative space of a large piece of wood. 

My color craving is satisfied with the gorgeousness of the oil pastel. Sometimes I swim in the emotionalism of the Tonalist School while other times in bolder color palettes and value patterns. The bonus has been discovering how well this balances with the monochromatic, finely detailed nature of wood burning. 

On the more "personal" personal side, I live with my wonderful husband of 13 years in a tiny paradisiacal spot of Swoope, Virginia called Trinity Point.  We own 20 acres, 19 of which have been left to naturalize for all our Wilder Neighbors. Sometimes I attempt to formalize that remaining one acre with flower and vegetable beds but more often than not I fail at maintaining any semblance of order. Still, there's always next year! In our downtime, we like to explore this paradise by foot and water and sometimes, in the winter, by snowboard.  Or when things get too busy for wandering afar, simply by sitting on our porch swing.
